Shadowed by the glorious Himalayas and bordered by Nepal and Tibet, Uttarakhand is a state in India replete with untainted natural magnificence. Broadly divided into two regions, “Garhwal” in the north and “Kumaon” in the south, Uttarakhand has been accorded as ‘Devbhum’, translated in Hindi to “Land of Gods”. Uttarakhand is also famous for adventure sports and enrapturing various flora and fauna, a fascinating history recorded in old stones and the most modest people. “The service to humanity is service to God” this famous quote is well taken by the NIFAA Uttarakhand branch, which high paying job and decided to serve the humanity for rest of his life. Although state president Sumit Kumar was an active volunteer of NIFAA for many years, NIFAA launched an official branch on 24 February 2019 in a programme organized in Dehradun. NIFAA Uttarakhand is doing exemplary work in blood donation, and blood donation camps were organized in different parts of the state. The team leader Sumit Kumar set an example by organizing a blood donation camp on the day of his marriage and asked all his friends and relatives to donate blood before proceeding to the marriage ceremony. He himself donated blood before marriage rituals took place. NIFAA Uttrakhand is providing free medicine and food to homeless people. NIFAA purchased a special van to collect cooked food from homes and further distribute it to needy people. The Uttarakhand branchorganized a camp to help differently able persons where members distributed tricycles, clippers,wheelchairs, etc., to needy disabled persons. NIFAA state branch ha d organized special trainingprogrammes for women on LED making and helped them be self-reliant and empowered. NIFAA Uttarakhand also organized “Uttarakhand Gaurav Award” ceremony at Mahant Indresh Hospital Auditorium, Dehradun, to honour the state’s prominent social workers for their exemplary contribution to the welfare of the society. NIFAA also hold a tribute function in the memory of Pulwama attack martyrs in the same auditorium. Tree plantation is a regular activity of NIFAA Uttarakhand, and to date, the branch has planted thousands of trees and taken care of all planted trees. During the first and second waves of the corona pandemic, the NIFAA state branch worked day and night to provide food, grocery, and medicine to needy people throughout the state. State president Sumit Kumar personally performed the last rituals of many corona positive dead bodies and set an example. Presently Sh. Sushil Bangar is state president of NIFAA Uttarakhand branch. He is a long time associate of NIFAA and under his command many blood donations were organized by the state branch. Also, to fulfil blood requirements during the corona period, the NIFAA Uttarakhand branch joined hands with NIMA Uttarakhand and other NGOs and organized… camps under the Samvedna campaign.
