Manipur is strategically located in the Northeastern corner of India, bordering Myanmar. The state serves as a corridor for India to Southeast Asian countries and offers immense tourism and regional business growth possibilities. The state is indeed a paradise on Earth where Mother Nature has been extra generous in her bounty. Least touched and least discovered, Manipur is a promising tourist destination for adventure and nature lovers alike.
NIFAA’s association with Manipur started in 2013 when a team of Manipuri Artists travelled to Karnal and participated in Harmony, International Cultural & Youth Festival. During One India Ride, the NIFAA team reached Manipur with the message of peace and harmony, warmly welcomed by Sh. K.B. Sharma and other Manipur’s friends. Mr Sharma showed interest in starting NIFAA in Mizoram, and after a round of talks, Sh. Pritpal Singh Pannu, chairman of NIFAA, officially launched the Manipur branch on 13 July 2019 at Imphal and Sh. K.B. Sharma was appointed state president to bring the NIFAA vision forward. The NIFAA Manipur team initiated various activities in the interest and welfare of the society, some of them as under World Environment Day, NIFAA volunteers of different district branches do tree plantations every year. On Manipur theatre day, NIFAA artists performed a play, “Om Shanti,” based on the theme of peace.
Similarly, NIFAA gave a strong message in the “Theatre and Culture Peace” article on World Theatre Day. The team also performed “Manipuri Ras Leela” based on the Hindu Vaishnavism theme and exquisite performance of the love-inspired dance drama of Radha Krishna. When One India Ride and Gita Sandesh Bharat Yatra entered Manipur, a warm welcome was extended by the team NIFAA Manipur. They also organized special programs in this regard. The NIFAA Manipur team wishes to promote national integration in the country, and the team will take various initiatives in the future.
