Delhi has been the chosen Capital of India for centuries. Legend has it that the city of Indraprastha (present-day Delhi) was the grand capital of the kingdom and was led by the Pandavas. It was the capital of Qutb-ud-Din Aibak. Mughal also ruled the country with having their capital in Delhi and same status of Delhi was maintained by the British. No other Indian city can boast of such a magnificent past. The monuments of Delhi’s historical past are unique to Delhi. Historical
monuments can be seen in all parts of Delhi.
The National Integrated Forum of Artists and Activists (NIFAA), a prestigious and leading socio-cultural organization in India, opened its Delhi Chapter in 2011. Shri Brahma Sarup Sharma was appointed as President, and the Delhi Branch started its work with full zeal and energy. Since then, the Delhi Branch has attended all the programs organized by NIFAA at Karnal. Delhi Branch organized a mini cultural programme, an extension of Harmony, in 2013 in Delhi, where many artists from Haryana and Delhi participated. The Harmony, 2013 at Delhi was witnessed by Shri Shastri, then- Speaker of Legislative Assembly Delhi, as Honourable Chief Guest. During Harmony, 2013, the Sr. Citizens who supported the Delhi Branch of NIFAA were honored by giving mementos and prizes to children. Shri Khazan Singh Tokas, Arjun Award winner and one of the renowned swimmers of India, who got a Silver Medal in the 1986 Seol Asian Games and a Bronze medal in the 1988 Swimming Championship in Beijing, was recognized by NIFAA Delhi Branch by giving a souvenir in this program.
Delhi Branch participated in the Orientation programs organized by NIFAA Headquarters at ORC, Manesar, Gurgaon from 3rd January to 6th January 2017. Taking forward the object of NIFAA to bring gender equality to society, NIFAA Delhi celebrated ‘LOHARI BETI KE NAAM’ in South Delhi on 16th January 2017 and honored more than 100 girl children. On this day, a cultural program was also organized wherein girls participated. President, Delhi Branch, join one India Ride of NIFAA in Northeastern States, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland. President Delhi Branch coordinated the Gita Sandesh Yatra in northeast India. NIFAA organized it on behalf of the Kurukshetra Development Board (KBD). He travelled to the Northeastern States as a member of the Gita Sandesh Yatra and met prominent persons and citizens to invite them to the International Gita Mahotsav. Delhi Branch sent its cultural team to Tripura in 2018 and Karnal in 2019 to participate in Harmony, International Cultural and Youth Festival. Also, it took part in the International Integration Rally at both places.
NIFAA, under the leadership of its Chairman, S. Pritpal Singh Pannu, undertook the Guru Nanak Sadbhavna Yatra on the 550th to visit the places Guru Nanak Ji visited. President Delhi NIFAA joined this pious Yatra in the Southern States and Sri Lanka in 2019 and planted herbal plants. The deadly Covid 19 pandemic broke up in February-March 2020, and India was severely affected. The government imposed a lockdown. People were helpless since they lost their jobs. Our Mauritian friends came to Delhi and Gurgaon for medical treatment and were stranded in various hotels and guest houses. On the request of the Mauritian Embassy to the Chairman NIFAA for extending help, the Delhi Branch of NIFAA, on behalf of the Chairman NIFAA, supplied food articles to our Mauritian brothers and sisters staying in Gurgaon and Delhi. Delhi Branch also assisted our Northeastern brothers and sisters waiting in south Delhi with food articles.11. NIFAA celebrated Shaheedi Diwas, the Martyred day of Shaheed Sarv Shri Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru, on 23rd March differently and explored the idea of encouraging the youths to donate blood on Shaheedi Diwas. The target was to collect 90000 units of blood by organizing camps for blood donation in all districts of India. Delhi Units of NIFAA also participated in this pious NIFAA campaign.
