Mr. Kundan Tiwari
(President)

Jharkhand, also known as “Bushland” or “the land of the forest”, lies in the lap of nature. The state is distinguished for its waterfalls, hills, forests, and holy places. Apart from the eye-catching natural beauty, Jharkhand has many other amazing facts that are not known to many. Jharkhand is famous for its rich mineral resources like Uranium, Mica, Bauxite, Granite, Gold, Silver, Graphite, Magnetite, Dolomite, Fireclay, Quartz, and Coal (32% of India), Iron, Copper (25%of India) etc. Forests and woodlands occupy more than 29% of the state, the highest in India. NIFAA formed its Jharkhand team under a dynamic youth leader Kundan Tiwari on 8th April 2018. During his participation in Harmony 2017, international youth and cultural festival organized by NIFAA in Karnal, Kundan Tiwari learnt about the vision and activities of NIFAA. As he was impressed with the selfless service of NIFAA volunteers, he decided to join NIFAA and motivate the youth of his home state Jharkhand to be part of this leading NGO. Jharkhand team started its social initiatives by raising issues of local importance. In Ramgarh district of Jharkhand, there was neither a government blood bank nor any private. Every time attendants of severe and needy patients had to rush to Ranchi to get required blood units for their patients or refer them to Ranchi or any other city with better medical facilities and blood availability. NIFAA Jharkhand team leader Kundan Tiwari and his teammates met Government officials, ministers and concerned departments with a request to start one blood bank in Ramgarh district; unfortunately, he could not get a genuine response. NIFAA Jharkhand team sat
on a peaceful hunger strike for seven days with this demand in 2018. NIFAA took various steps to convince the Government about the urgency of opening a blood bank in this district. Ultimately their efforts brought fruit, and the Government of Jharkhand accepted NIFAA demand and started the first blood bank in Ramgarh district in March 2020. It will undoubtedly helped to save many precious lives. NIFAA Dhanbad team also organized the first blood donation camp for this blood bank. NIFAA Jharkhand started a helpline number to help people in need of blood in the Ramgarh district. NIFAA Dhanbad organized a mega health check-up camp in B.K Roy College, Dhanbad, in which 1108 patients were examined free of cost for all types of diseases. NIFAA Dhumka branch started donating clothes and groceries to tribal people in the Dhumka Khoboriya area. This work is a regular initiative.
NIFAA Jharkhand team has contributed significantly to environmental protection. Chatra branch planted more than 1000 plants across the district and took regular care of them. All other units are also involved in tree plantation and maintenance of planted trees. During Guru Nanak Sadbhawna Yatra, NIFAA branches in Jharkhand contacted local Gurudwara committees and planted trees to pay tribute to Guru Nanak Dev Ji on his 550th birth anniversary. Jharkhand team president Kundan Tiwari walked 25 Kilometres on foot with a message of Environment protection. This event, organized under the “Ramgarh Paryavaran Rally” was well-received by society. NIFAA started free painting, cutting and tailoring centres to empower needy women, and presently ten centres in Dhanbad districts are operational. NIFAA Ranchi team observed literacy day in Rajyakrit Hindi Madhyavidhyalya school Ranchi and volunteers of NIFAA Jharkhand regularly visit this school to take motivational classes. During the corona period, NIFAA started a helpline number to provide relief to people in need. NIFAA also provided groceries and medicines. All branches of NIFAA in Jharkhand are helping the district administration with COVID vaccine camps. NIFAA branches in Jharkhand initiated special cleaning drives, and the Bokaro team of NIFAA conducted cleaning efforts in parks of the city.
Appreciating their efforts, District Magistrate honoured this team with a cash reward of 51000 Indian Rupees. NIFAA Jharkhand also participated in the “Samvedna” campaign in a big way. NIFAA launched this campaign in the state with the guidance and blessings of the Honourable Governor of the state, Smt. Dropadi Murmu, and Speaker of legislative assembly Sh. Ravinder Nath Mahto. Apart from organizing blood donation camps, volunteers of the NIFAA Jharkhand team are always ready to fulfil individual blood demands from patients admitted to different hospitals. NIFAA Jharkhand team has established sanitary pad banks in 4 districts, namely Dhumka, Garhwa, Palamu and Gumla, which is considered the most backward district of the state.
