It gives me immense pleasure that National Integrated Forum of Artists & Activists is organising an International Cultural Festival & Youth Convention 'HARMONY 2017' from 21 to 29 October 2017 at Karnal (Haryana).
Youth development is a process that prepares young people to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood through a coordinated, progressive series of activities and experiences that help them to become socially, morally, emotionally, physically and cognitively competent. It is all the more necessary for the youth of today to learn about wellness in the context of society, environment and climate change as they have a key role in bringing such wellness consciousness in their entire community.
The consistent efforts of NIFAA aimed at inculcating the sense of peace and harmony among the youth by providing a platform for youth makes them one of the foremost institutions doing splendid work in spreading such awareness with the right guidance and motivation. These efforts go in line with the priorities for the Youth as outlined and discussed a the 6th ECOSOC Youth Forum held at the United Nations Headquarters in January this year.
The major issues that will be addressed in 'Harmony 2017' are that of social equity and gender equality which are at the core of youth development and empowerment. Another issue that I consider a priority is youth engagement in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, both by and for young people.
I have had the opportunity to closely interact with the officials of NIFAA during my visits at Karnal as well as in other International for a organised by NIFAA in Mauritius and India. They are all seasoned intellectuals and I can without any hesitation say that NIFAA is marching ahead towards fostering a better society.
I am glad to extend my heartiest greetings on the occasion and good wishes to all the members of NIFAA. I wish them good luck in all their endeavours and also wish the aforesaid event a big success.
